HEIC to PNG
on iPhone & Android.
PNG is the right output when you want lossless quality or are editing the image further — for design tools, documents, and apps that don't accept HEIC. Fileroom converts HEIC → PNG locally on your phone.
Free tier — 10 conversions / day, files up to 50 MB.
Why convert HEIC to PNG?
- PNG is lossless — pixel-perfect from the HEIC source.
- PNG supports transparency where JPEG can't.
- Most design tools (Figma, Photoshop, Canva) prefer PNG for screenshots and assets.
- Conversion happens on-device, so the original photo never leaves your phone.
How to convert HEIC to PNG
- 01
Pick the HEIC file
Open Fileroom, tap the picker, and select one or more HEIC images.
- 02
Choose PNG
Tap PNG in the output chip row. PNG has no quality slider — it's always lossless.
- 03
Convert and export
Tap Convert. The PNG saves to Photos or Files; PNGs are larger than the HEIC source, so expect the file size to grow.
Frequently asked
- Should I pick PNG or JPEG?
- PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency. JPEG when you want a smaller file for sharing or web upload. For photos, JPEG is usually the right answer.
- Why is my PNG so much larger than the HEIC?
- PNG is lossless and uses less aggressive compression than HEIC's HEVC codec. A 2 MB HEIC commonly becomes a 10–20 MB PNG. That's expected.
- Does PNG keep the photo's EXIF metadata?
- PNG can store metadata in iTXt chunks; Fileroom preserves the originals by default and gives you a toggle to strip them in Settings.
