HEIC to JPEG
on iPhone & Android.
iPhone photos save as HEIC by default to save space, but most apps, websites, and Windows tools still expect JPEG. Fileroom converts HEIC → JPEG entirely on your phone — no upload, no waiting on a server, no copy of your photo sitting in someone else's bucket.
Free tier — 10 conversions / day, files up to 50 MB.
Why convert HEIC to JPEG?
- JPEG opens everywhere — Slack, email, web uploads, Windows, older photo software.
- Recipients on Android or Windows often see HEIC as a broken attachment.
- Web forms, print labs, and most CMS uploaders only accept JPEG/PNG.
- Fileroom keeps the conversion on-device, so location and EXIF stay private unless you opt to share them.
How to convert HEIC to JPEG
- 01
Pick the HEIC file
Open Fileroom and tap the file picker on the home screen, then pick one or more HEIC images from Photos or Files.
- 02
Choose JPEG as the output
Select JPEG in the output chip row. Adjust quality if you want a smaller file (90 is a good default).
- 03
Convert and share
Tap Convert. The JPEG saves to your Photos library or Files; share or AirDrop it directly from the success screen.
Frequently asked
- Does converting HEIC to JPEG lose quality?
- HEIC compresses more efficiently than JPEG, so a JPEG at the same visual quality will be larger, and a JPEG at a smaller size will look slightly worse. At quality 90+ the difference is invisible on a phone screen.
- Will the conversion strip my photo's EXIF and location?
- Fileroom preserves EXIF metadata by default so dates and camera info survive. Turn off EXIF in Settings if you want a clean JPEG with no embedded metadata before sharing.
- Can I convert multiple HEIC photos at once?
- Yes — pick multiple files in the picker and Fileroom batches the conversion. Each output keeps the original filename with a .jpg extension.
- Is this faster than the Files app's share-as-JPEG trick?
- For one or two files it's similar; for batches Fileroom is much faster because it converts in parallel and saves directly without re-routing through Photos.
